A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem-Saad. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. (2) Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. (3) How many a city We have destroyed! Our might came upon it at night, or while they took their ease in the noontide, (4) When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong." (5) Then shall we question those to whom Our message was sent and those by whom We sent it. (6) So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. (7) The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. (8) As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. (9) It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! (10)
