The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. (1) so that he could warn them of His stern retribution, give the glad news of the best and everlasting reward to the righteously striving believers, (2) In which they will abide forever. (3) And warn those who say: Allah has taken a son. (4) a thing about which they have no knowledge, neither they nor their ancestors. Dreadful is the word that comes out of their mouths. What they utter is merely a lie. (5) Perhaps you will destroy yourself out of grief because they disbelieve this Book. (6) That which is on earth we have made but as a glittering show for the earth, in order that We may test them - as to which of them are best in conduct. (7) We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. (8) Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? (9) Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. (10) So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years. (11) and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. (12)
