The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Praise belongs to Allah who has sent down the Book to His worshiper (Prophet Muhammad) and has not made any crookedness in it, (1) [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward (2) In which they will abide forever. (3) And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' (4) No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. (5) Haply thou art going to kill thyself over their footsteps, if they believe not in this discourse, out of sorrow. (6) We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. (7) And indeed We shall one day make all that is on it a barren plain. (8) Do you think that the Men of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? (9) When the young men fled for refuge to the Cave and said: Our Lord! Give us mercy from Thy presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight. (10) We sealed their ears in the cave for a number of years. (11) Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time. (12)
