Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! (1) Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, (2) Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" (3) The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." (4) They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." (5) There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? (6) And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not (7) We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. (8) Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). (9) We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? (10)
