Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. (1) Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. (2) their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" (3) He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." (4) "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" (5) Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? (6) Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. (7) And We made them not bodies not eating food; nor were they to be abiders. (8) Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. (9) We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? (10)
