The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. (1) Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, (2) Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" (3) He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. (4) They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." (5) Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? (6) The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- (7) We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. (8) Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. (9) [O MEN!] We have now bestowed upon you from on high a divine writ containing all that you ought to bear in mind will you not, then, use your reason? (10)
