The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Ta Sin. Those are the signs of the Koran and a Manifest Book, (1) They are glad news and guidance for the believers (2) Who establish worship and pay the poor-due and are sure of the Hereafter. (3) We have made the deeds of those who do not believe in the life to come, attractive to them and they wander about blindly. (4) Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers. (5) Thou receivest the Koran from One All-wise, All-knowing. (6) When Moses said to his household: 'Indeed, I can see a fire far away. I will go and bring you news of it or I will bring you a lighted flame so that you can warm yourselves' (7) But when he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, and whosoever is round about it! And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (8) O Moses, verily this is Me, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise! (9) Throw down your staff." When he saw it wriggling like a serpent he turned his back and fled without turning (to look). "O Moses," (said the voice), "be not fearful. Surely those sent as messengers do not fear in My presence, (10) "But if any have done wrong and have thereafter substituted good to take the place of evil, truly, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (11) Thrust thy hand in thy bosom and it will come forth white without evil-among nine signs to Pharaoh and his people; they are an ungodly people.' (12) But when Our tokens came unto them, plain to see, they said: This is mere magic, (13) And they denied them out of malice and pride, though in their hearts they believed that they were true. So see how was the end of evil-doers! (14)
