Hizb 39
Juz 20
We sent (aforetime), to the Thamud, their brother Salih, saying, "Serve Allah": But behold, they became two factions quarrelling with each other. (45) (Saleh) said: "O people, why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why not ask for God's forgiveness? You may well be forgiven." (46) They said: "You betoken evil, and those with you." (Saleh) replied: "The evil you presage can only come from God. In reality you are a people under trial (for your own inauspiciousness)." (47) There were in that city nine persons who spread disorder in the land, and did not reform. (48) They said: Swear to each other by Allah that we will certainly make a sudden attack on him and his family by night, then we will say to his heir: We did not witness the destruction of his family, and we are most surely truthful. (49) Thus they devised a plan, and We also devised a plan, but they were not aware of it. (50) Therefore see what was the result of their scheming We destroyed them and their entire nation. (51) Because of their wrongdoing, their houses are in ruins, in that surely there is a sign for people who have knowledge, (52) And We rescued those who accepted faith and used to fear. (53) And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing? (54) Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant! (55) ۞ Therefore the answer of his people was nothing except that they said, “Expel the family of Lut from your township; these people wish purity!” (56) But We saved him and his family, except his wife; her We destined to be of those who lagged behind. (57) And We rained on them a rain, and evil was the rain of those who had been warned. (58)
