The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
69 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Romans (Al-Room) before The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem (1) Do men imagine that they will be left (at ease) because they say, We believe, and will not be tested with affliction? (2) Yea, indeed, We did test those who lived before them; and so, [too, shall be tested the people now living: and] most certainly will God mark out those who prove themselves true, and most certainly will He mark out those who are lying. (3) Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun Us? Evil is what they judge. (4) Whoever looks forward [with hope and awe] to meeting God [on Resurrection Day, let him be ready for it]: for, behold, the end set by God [for everyone's life] is bound to come - and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! (5) And whoever strives in Allah's cause, strives only for his own benefit; indeed Allah is Independent of the entire creation. (6) as for those who have faith and do good works, We shall certainly cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their actions. (7) We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. (8) Those who believe and do good works shall be admitted among the righteous. (9) Some profess to believe in God, but when they suffer for God's cause they mistake the persecution of man for the punishment of God. But when help comes to you from God, they will say, "We have always been with you." Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? (10) Verily, Allah knows those who believe, and verily, He knows the hypocrites [i.e. Allah will test the people with good and hard days to discriminate the good from the wicked (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test)]. (11) And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Follow our way and we will verily bear your sins," never will they bear anything of their sins. Surely, they are liars. (12) Yet most certainly will they have to bear their own burdens, and other burdens besides their own; and most certainly will they be called to account on Resurrection Day for all their false assertions! (13)
