Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. (1) These are the verses of the Wise Book, (2) for a guidance and a mercy to the good-doers (3) for those who attend to their prayers and pay the zakat and who have firm faith in the Hereafter: (4) It is they who are on true guidance from their Lord, and it is they who shall prosper. (5) But among men there are some who spend their time in idle diversions only to lead people astray from the path of God, and without knowledge, hold it up to ridicule: for such there is a humiliating punishment in store. (6) Whenever Our messages are conveyed to such a person, he turns away in his arrogance, as though he had not heard them -- as though his ears were sealed: give him, then, the tidings of grievous suffering [in the life to come]. (7) The righteously striving believers will enter Paradise (8) To dwell therein. The promise of Allah is true: and He is Exalted in Power, Wise. (9) He created the skies without a support, as you can see, and placed stabilisers in the earth that you may dwell at ease as it revolves; and dispersed on it all varieties of creatures, and He sent down water from the skies and grew all kinds of splendid things upon it. (10) Such is the creation of Allah; now show me what, other than Him, created! No, the harmdoers are in clear error. (11)
