Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
34 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat) before Sheba (Saba)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] (1) Those are the signs of the Wise Book (2) for a guidance and a mercy to the good-doers (3) who are constant in prayer and dispense charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! (4) These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful: (5) But among men there is many a one that prefers a mere play with words [to divine guidance,] so as to lead [those] without knowledge astray from the path of God, and to turn it to ridicule: for such there is shameful suffering in store. (6) And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in his stiff-neckedness as though he heard them not: as though there was a deafness in his ears. So announce thou unto him a torment afflictive. (7) But for those who believe and do good works are Gardens of Bliss, (8) Wherein they abide eternally; [it is] the promise of Allah [which is] truth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (9) He created the heavens without pillars as you see them, and put mountains upon the earth lest it might convulse with you, and He spread in it animals of every kind; and We sent down water from the cloud, then caused to grow therein (vegetation) of every noble kind. (10) Such is God's creation. Show me now what those (they worship) beside Him have created. Surely the evil-doers are in clear error. (11)
