The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who range themselves in rows; (1) By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way. (2) By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. (3) Most surely your Allah is One: (4) Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises. (5) We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars (6) and guarded it against all rebellious devils: (7) they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, (8) rejected, and theirs is an everlasting chastisement, (9) but if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge,] he is [henceforth] pursued by a piercing flame. (10) Ask them thou: are they stronger in structure or those others whom We have created? Verily We! We have created them of a sticky clay. (11) Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff; (12) They pay no attention when they are reminded (13) And when they behold a sign, they turn to scoffing. (14) and say: "This is clearly nothing but [a mortal's] spellbinding eloquence! (15) "What! When we have died and become dust and bones, will we be brought back to life again, (16) What, and our forefathers, the ancients' (17) Say: 'Yes, but worthless' (18) Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see! (19) They will then say: “Woe for us. This is the Day of Judgement.” (20) This is the day of the judgment which you called a lie. (21)
