Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. (1) Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. (2) How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. (3) It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". (4) They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". (5) Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. (6) We have not heard this in the religious community close to our time. This is nothing but a fabrication. (7) What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. (8) Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? (9) Or is it that the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? If so, let them ascend up with means (to the heavens)! (10) A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. (11) The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, (12) Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. (13) There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: (14)
