88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. (1) Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. (2) Many a generation We did destroy before them thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! (3) It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". (4) Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." (5) Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. (6) We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. (7) Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. (8) Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? (9) Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any (10) The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. (11) Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, (12) And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. (13) Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. (14)
