S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. (1) In fact, the unbelievers are the ones who are boastful and quarrelsome. (2) How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! (3) They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. (4) Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" (5) The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. (6) Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! (7) Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! (8) Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? (9) Is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for them? So would they not just ascend using ropes? (10) A very host of parties is routed there! (11) To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, (12) And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. (13) Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them. (14)
