In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). (1) Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. (2) How many did We destroy before them of the generations, then they cried while the time of escaping had passed away. (3) They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. (4) Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." (5) Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. (6) “We never heard of this even in Christianity, the latest religion; this is clearly a newly fabricated matter.” (7) Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. (8) Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? (9) Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any (10) A very host of parties is routed there! (11) To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, (12) And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. (13) There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: (14)
