Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Koran, containing the Remembrance -- (1) Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. (2) How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! (3) So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! (4) Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" (5) Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. (6) We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. (7) What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. (8) Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? (9) Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). (10) A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. (11) The people of Noah, Ad and the dominating Pharaoh had rejected Our revelations. (12) And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. (13) None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. (14)
