Juz 23
S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. (1) But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. (2) How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. (3) And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan. (4) Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." (5) Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. (6) We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. (7) Was the message sent only to him out of all of us?" In fact, they doubt My warning; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. (8) Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? (9) Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! (10) They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. (11) Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, (12) So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. (13) Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. (14)
