The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) In an outstretched fine parchment, (3) by the House inhabited (4) And the roof exalted, (5) and by the swelling sea, (6) Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, (7) There is none who could avert it. (8) (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, (9) And the mountains will move with a visible movement. (10) Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. (13) This is the Fire which you used to belie. (14) Is it magic, or you cannot see? (15) "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." (16) But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, (17) rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. (18) (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” (19) Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. (20) And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. (23) ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. (24) And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. (25) Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). (26) and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. (27) We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". (28)
