The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount (1) and by the Book in lines (2) on wide-open scrolls. (3) And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, (4) by the elevated canopy; (5) And [by] the sea filled [with fire], (6) Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; (7) none can avert that. (8) (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, (9) And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, (10) On that Day woe to those who belied (11) who divert themselves with idle chatter: (12) The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], (13) (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! (14) Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? (15) Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". (16) As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- (17) enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. (18) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, (19) The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. (23) ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. (24) And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (25) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. (26) and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. (27) before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
