The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount Sinai, (1) and by the Scripture penned (2) in an exposed parchment (3) by the much-visited House, (4) by the elevated canopy; (5) And [by] the sea filled [with fire], (6) The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. (7) There is none that can ward it off. (8) On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side (9) The mountains move and fly away, (10) Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, (11) those who are in plunging, playing. (12) That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. (13) This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. (14) What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? (15) Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' (16) Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss (17) Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. (18) They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". (19) reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. (20) To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire (22) They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. (23) ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. (24) They will go to one another asking each other questions: (25) Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; (26) God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- (27) we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.'
