The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (1) And [by] a Book inscribed (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) and by the swelling sea: (6) VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: (7) none can avert that. (8) On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. (9) and the mountains shudder and shake. (10) Will be the day of woe for those (11) Those who in wading sport themselves. (12) On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): (13) (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! (14) What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? (15) Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. (18) Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. (21) We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. (22) They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. (23) ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. (24) And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. (25) They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. (26) So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. (27) Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” (28)
