The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, (1) By the book inscribed. (2) In parchment spread open (3) by the Visited House, (4) by the elevated canopy; (5) And the sea set aflame. (6) surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; (7) There shall be none to avert it; (8) On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. (9) And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, (10) Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth (11) That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! (14) Is this magic, or do ye not see? (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, (17) rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, (18) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." (19) They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. (20) Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. (23) ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. (24) And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, (25) 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, (26) But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. (27) Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
