The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount (1) and the Book inscribed (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) By the House Frequented. (4) The roof raised high, (5) And the sea set aflame. (6) Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; (7) there is no one who could avert it, (8) On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. (9) and the mountains are in motion, (10) Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. (13) This is the Fire which you used to belie. (14) Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? (15) [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. (18) Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. (21) And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. (22) They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. (23) ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. (24) And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. (25) Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). (26) "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. (27) Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" (28)
