The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, (1) Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. (2) nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. (4) taught him by one terrible in power, (5) Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm (6) And he is in the highest part of the horizon. (7) Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, (8) until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. (9) and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. (10) The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. (11) Will you then argue with him about what he saw? (12) And assuredly he saw him at another descent. (13) Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: (14) Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. (15) When the tree was covered with a covering, (16) Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. (17) Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, (19) and Manat the third, the other? (20) Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? (21) That is indeed an unfair division! (22) They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. (23) Or is there for man whatever he wishes? (24) But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. (25)
