The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it setteth. (1) your comrade is not astray, neither errs, (2) nor speaks he out of caprice. (3) It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. (4) taught him by one terrible in power, (5) One strong of make. Then he stood straight. (6) being on the higher horizon, (7) and then drew near, and came close, (8) Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, (9) so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). (10) The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) (11) What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? (12) And assuredly he saw him at another descent. (13) by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, (14) Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, (15) with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour (16) His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, (17) He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. (18) Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza (19) And Manat, the third, the other? (20) Are yours the males and His the females? (21) That indeed were an unfair division! (22) They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. (23) Shall man have whatever he craves? (24) To God belong the End and the Beginning. (25)
