The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it plunges, (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; (2) and neither does he speak out of his own desire: (3) Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4) He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. (5) [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, (6) When he was on the uppermost horizon. (7) then came down close (8) So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. (9) So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. (10) The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. (11) What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? (12) And indeed, he saw him a second time (13) Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: (14) Near it is the Garden of Refuge - (15) When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; (16) The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. (17) Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, (19) and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? (20) Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? (21) That were indeed an unjust division. (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! (24) Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). (25)
