The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; (2) Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. (3) Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4) taught by One who is Stern in power. (5) by the great mighty one (Gabriel), (6) While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, (7) Then he approached and descended (8) So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him was with body and soul.) (9) So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. (10) The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. (11) Will you dispute with him what he saw? (12) Indeed, he saw him in another descent (13) Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. (14) Near it is the Paradise of Abode. (15) When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! (16) The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. (17) for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, (19) And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? (20) Is it for you the males and for Him the females? (21) This is certainly an unjust apportioning. (22) These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. (23) Or shall man have what he wishes? (24) Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. (25)
