The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). (1) (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” (2) And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. (3) And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- (4) Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. (5) So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, (6) They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, (7) running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' (8) ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. (9) Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" (10) And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, (11) And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. (12) And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, (13) She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! (14) And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? (15) How then were My chastisement and My warnings? (16) And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? (17) (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. (18) Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. (19) Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. (20) Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! (21) We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? (22)
