The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. (1) (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” (2) They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. (3) And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, (4) Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. (5) Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. (6) They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, (7) Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. (8) ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". (9) So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." (10) We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. (11) And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. (12) but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, (13) Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. (14) And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? (15) How was then My punishment and My commination! (16) And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? (17) 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! (18) On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind (19) Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. (20) So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? (21) And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (22)
