Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! (1) What is the Indubitable? (2) And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. (5) and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, (6) which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. (7) Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? (8) And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin (9) and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! (10) When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. (11) so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. (12) With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, (13) And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. (16) And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) So he shall have an agreeable life (21) in a lofty garden, (22) the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, (25) Nor known whatever was my reckoning! (26) Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! (27) "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! (28) I am bereft of power." (29) "Seize him and manacle him, (30) And then expose him to hell-fire (31) "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" (32) Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), (34) So no friend has he here this Day, (35) "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
