52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). (1) What is the sure calamity! (2) And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. (3) Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! (4) As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; (5) And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, (6) violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. (9) and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! (10) [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, (11) That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. (12) So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. (14) on that Day, the Event occurs. (15) And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. (17) On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! (19) "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) in an exalted garden (22) its fruits are near. (23) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. (24) But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! (25) and had not known my account. (26) Would that it (my death) had ended it all! (27) Our wealth is of no benefit to us (28) "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" (29) 'Take him, and fetter him, (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: (32) they did not believe in the great God, (33) and he never urged the feeding of the needy; (34) Therefore he has not here today a true friend, (35) neither any food saving foul pus, (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
