Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! (1) What is the concrete reality? (2) And what will make you know what the Reality is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. (4) So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (5) The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale (6) which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. (10) Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. (11) That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. (12) So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, (15) And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) So he shall be in a life of pleasure, (21) in an exalted garden (22) The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! (25) and knew nothing of my reckoning. (26) "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! (27) "My wealth has not availed me, (28) "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" (29) (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, (30) Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; (31) "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" (32) they did not believe in the great God, (33) “And did not urge to feed the needy.” (34) Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. (35) Nor food other than suppuration (filth) (36) "Which none do eat but those in sin." (37)
