Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! (1) How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! (2) And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? (3) Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. (4) So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (5) and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Beholdest thou any of them remaining? (8) And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. (10) Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. (14) And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; (15) and the heavens will be rent asunder, (16) And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. (17) On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. (18) On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) So he shall have an agreeable life (21) In a Garden on high, (22) its clusters nigh to gather. (23) (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. (24) But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! (25) "And that I had never known, how my Account is? (26) "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! (27) My wealth has not availed me. (28) My authority is gone away from me. (29) 'Take him, and fetter him, (30) and then let him enter hell, (31) “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” (32) for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, (33) nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. (34) So no friend has he here this Day, (35) nor any food except foul pus (36) which only the sinners will eat.” (37)
