Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - (1) What is the Inevitable Reality? (2) And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! (3) Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. (4) Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; (5) and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, (6) which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. (10) Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, (11) So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. (12) When a single blow is blown on the Horn, (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) On that day shall the great event come to pass, (15) And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. (16) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! (19) "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" (20) They will have a pleasant life (21) In a Garden on high, (22) The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. (23) We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." (24) Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. (25) and neither known this my account! (26) I wish my death had been the decisive one. (27) "My wealth has not availed me, (28) my authority is gone from me.' (29) Seize him and fetter him, (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. (32) Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. (33) “And did not urge to feed the needy.” (34) That is why he has no friend today, (35) and no food except pus (36) None will eat it except the sinners. (37)
