Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (1) What is the Indubitable? (2) And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? (3) The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) (4) Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; (5) And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind (6) which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. (7) and dost thou now see any remnant of them? (8) And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. (9) They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. (10) And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), (11) That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. (12) So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; (15) and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, (16) The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. (17) On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (18) On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! (19) Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' (20) They will have a pleasant life (21) in a lofty Garden (22) The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. (23) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. (24) But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book (25) Nor that I knew my reckoning! (26) Would that death had taken us away for good. (27) My wealth has not availed me. (28) "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" (29) [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. (32) He did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) so today he has no friend here, (35) and no food except pus (36) Which none but the hellish eat." (37)
