Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, (1) 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). (2) And (we believe) that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord! - hath taken neither wife nor son, (3) And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. (4) and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, (5) And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. (6) They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. (7) And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. (8) and that “we would take up stations in the heaven to try to hear but anyone who now attempts to listen finds a shooting meteor in wait for him”; (9) We do not know whether by this arrangement God intends benefit and guidance for the people of the earth or only evil. (10) And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. (11) and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; (12) And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): (13) Some of us are obedient while others are wrongdoers; it is the obedient who have found the right path, (14) but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" (15) [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, (16) So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: (17) Mosques belong to Allah, so do not call to anyone else, other than Allah. (18) (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation).
