Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, (1) Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. (2) For half the night, or reduce some from it. (3) Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, (4) Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). (5) Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). (6) Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. (7) But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. (8) The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, (9) Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. (10) And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. (11) Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, (12) and food that chokes, and grievous suffering (13) On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. (14) Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. (15) But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. (16) If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, (17) the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. (18) Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. (19)
