Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O thou folded in garments! (1) Keep watch all the night except some, (2) A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, (3) Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. (4) Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. (5) Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. (6) Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. (7) Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. (8) He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. (9) And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. (10) And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. (11) for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, (12) And food that chokes and a painful punishment, (13) On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. (14) We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. (15) But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. (16) Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? (17) And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. (18) This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! (19)
