Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! (1) Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part (2) A half of it or a little less (3) Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. (4) Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. (5) Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. (6) Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, (7) And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. (8) The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. (9) And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. (10) And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. (11) Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire (12) And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. (13) On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. (14) We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. (15) However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. (16) How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? (17) The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. (18) Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! (19)
