The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) (1) Arise and warn! (2) Thy Lord magnify, (3) Purify your inner self, (4) and defilement flee! (5) and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, (6) For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! (7) For when the trumpet blows (8) that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. (9) for the unbelievers not easy. (10) LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, (11) and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, (12) And sons always present by his side, (13) I made things smooth and easy for him, (14) After all that he desires that I should give more; (15) Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. (16) I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. (17) Verily, he thought and plotted; (18) So let him be cursed! How he plotted! (19) And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! (20) Then he looked, (21) then he frowned and scowled, (22) Then he turned back and was proud; (23) And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. (24) This is naught else than speech of mortal man. (25) I will surely roast him in the Scorching. (26) And what can make you know what is Saqar? (27) It neither spares, nor releases, (28) It glows and burns the skin. (29) Above it are nineteen guards. (30) And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. (31)
