The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (1) We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: (8) (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal (15) and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, (16) and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. (21) It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” (22)
