The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. (1) Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. (2) Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. (6) They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' (10) So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, (11) and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. (14) And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], (15) and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. (19) When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." (22)
