The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, (8) [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: (9) Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, (16) And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. (19) If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. (22)
