The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (1) We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. (2) We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (3) We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). (4) Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. (16) And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. (19) If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. (20) Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. (21) Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' (22)
