The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. (2) Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). (4) But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; (7) who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. (9) We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, (15) goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. (16) Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. (19) And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. (22)
