The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. (1) Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, (8) 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; (9) for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. (20) Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. (21) "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." (22)
