The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. (4) As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
