The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. (9) Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. (10) And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, (11) and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; (12) Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' (22)
