The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. (4) Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, (5) a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; (9) behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (10) God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. (11) and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; (12) Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. (13) The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, (15) (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), (17) A spring there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. (19) And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. (22)
