The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. (3) Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. (4) Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: (9) we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” (10) And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, (11) and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. (15) goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. (16) And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) A fountain there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, (19) If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. (21) Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' (22)
