The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? (1) We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: (8) saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. (9) Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. (12) therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
