The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? (1) Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. (2) Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." (10) And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, (11) and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. (12) Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. (13) near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, (14) Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) from a flowing spring called Salsabil. (18) ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. (19) And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. (20) Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. (21) Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. (22)
