The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. (4) Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, (5) A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. (6) [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. (22)
