The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? (1) We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; (12) Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. (13) And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. (16) And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. (17) A spring there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. (19) And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." (22)
